After speaking to my mentor, I’ve decided to implement my Old McDonald felt story into the classroom.
I will utilize circle time to introduce this, and then allow the children to explore on their own. Allowing children to explore on their own will help connect symbols to words and sound. (i.e. a cow says moo.) This is a great way to promote language development in the classroom.
UPDATE: After bringing in my felt story, many of the children were interested for the first week. It was left out for a second week but the interest faded when a wooden barn and toy animals were placed out.
The children are still engaging with the wooden barn, and today (March 18), they set up the barn to sing the song together.
